Louis V. Gerstner, Jr

Louis V. Gerstner, Jr. – Former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, IBM Corporation

Louis V. Gerstner, Jr. was chairman of the board of IBM Corporation from April 1993 until his retirement in December 2002. He served as chief executive officer of IBM from 1993 until March 2002

In January 2003, he assumed the position of chairman of The Carlyle Group, a global private equity firm located in Washington, DC. He retired from that position in October 2008 and remains a senior advisor to Carlyle.

Prior to joining IBM, Gerstner served for four years as chairman and chief executive officer of RJR Nabisco, Inc. This was preceded by an 11-year career at American Express Company, where he was president of the parent company and chairman and CEO of its largest subsidiary, American Express Travel Related Services Company. Prior to that, Gerstner was a director of the management consulting firm of McKinsey & Co., Inc., which he joined in 1965.

A native of Mineola, New York, Gerstner received a bachelor's degree in engineering from Dartmouth College in 1963 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1965. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, The Business Council, the National Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and has been awarded honorary doctorates from a number of U.S. universities.

Gerstner is a member of the advisory board of Sony Corporation and a director of the National Committee on United States-China Relations. He is vice chairman of the board of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and vice chairman of the board of the American Museum of Natural History. In past years he served on the boards of Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, The New York Times Company, American Express Company, AT&T, Caterpillar, Inc., Jewel Companies, Melville Corporation, RJR Nabisco Holdings Co. and DaimlerChrysler Chairman’s Council.

A lifetime advocate of the importance of quality education, Gerstner created in 2003 The Teaching Commission to develop specific policy recommendations to deal with the teaching crisis America is facing. From 1996 to 2002, he co-chaired Achieve, an organization created by U.S. Governors and business leaders to drive high academic standards for public schools in the United States. At IBM he established Reinventing Education as a strategic partnership with 21 states and school districts which utilize IBM technology and technical assistance to eliminate key barriers to school reform and improve student performance.

He has received numerous awards for his work in education, among them the Cleveland E. Dodge Medal for Distinguished Service to Education - Teachers College, Columbia University and the Distinguished Service to Science and Education award from The American Museum of Natural History. In recognition of his efforts on behalf of public education, as well as his business accomplishments, Gerstner was awarded the designation of honorary Knight of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in June 2001.

Gerstner is the author of Who Says Elephants Can't Dance, the best-selling account of IBM's transformation; and he is the co-author of the book Reinventing Education: Entrepreneurship in America's Public Schools (Dutton 1994).

Robin Meredith

Robyn Meredith is the author of The New York Times bestseller, The Elephant and the Dragon: The Rise of India and China and What it Means for All of Us, published by W.W. Norton. She is senior editor, Asia for Forbes, where she writes the “Off Shore” column on globalization.

For Forbes, she has written cover stories on Sony, General Motors, Kodak, Microsoft, Philips, Toyota, Ratan Tata, Li & Fung and Infosys. Meredith joined Forbes as its Detroit Bureau Chief in April, 2000 to write about the auto industry. She moved to Hong Kong in 2002. One of her articles was included in the 2002 edition of the book The Best Business Stories of the Year.

Meredith is an award-winning journalist who previously wrote for The New York Times, USA Today and The American Banker newspaper, where her reporting exposed apattern of insider deals at savings and loans that led to four Congressional hearings and anoverhaul of U.S. banking regulations governing initial public offerings.

Meredith received a B.A. in English Literature from Boston University in 1990.

Thomas Monahan III

Thomas Monahan III – Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, The Corporate Executive Board

Thomas L. Monahan III was named Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Corporate Executive Board (NYSE: EXBD) effective 1 January 2008. He has served as Chief Executive Officer of the company since 1 July 2005.

Prior to assuming the role of CEO, Mr. Monahan served as General Manager of the Finance, Legal and Governance, Strategy and Innovation, Information Technology, and Operations divisions. He has been a member of the company’s leadership team since its 1999 initial public offering and a member of the company’s board of directors since 2001.

Before joining The Corporate Executive Board, Mr. Monahan was a member of the Financial Institutions practice in the New York office of Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group, a Research and Information Director at the Committee for Economic Development, and a Staff Consultant at Andersen Consulting.

Mr. Monahan is also a member of the board of directors of Convergys Corporation. He holds an undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Harvard University and received his MBA with distinction from New York University.

Charles B. Blair

Chuck rejoined MetLife in 2009 and holds the position of Vice President, Retirement & Savings Sales. His responsibilities include managing oversight of field Sales Directors involved in new business development for pension risk transfer solutions, institutional annuities, and certain stable value products. This team is responsible for covering National and Regional plan sponsors directly along with intermediary and advisor market segments.

Chuck has more than 20 years of business development experience working with sponsors of Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution plans and their advisors. In 2000 Chuck assumed the role of Vice President, Sales Relationship Manager at Fidelity Investments with responsibility for “bundled” Defined Benefit plan outsourcing products, including investments, plan administration, actuarial, trustee and asset/ liability modeling services.

Prior to joining Fidelity, Chuck had spent 13 years with MetLife in sales and sales management roles with the Retirement Plan Services organization, successfully developing and implementing strategic sales and marketing plans for Defined Contribution and Defined Benefit markets. He was also a significant contributor in the planning and launch of the market's first successful “Separate Account” product, the Met Managed GIC.

Chuck earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Wheaton College in 1982, is a registered principal, and holds a FINRA Series 7 License.

Duane Bollert

Duane Bollert is the leader of MetLife’s U.S. Pensions business, which is a $30 billion business focused on pension close-out and risk management solutions. He is responsible for pricing, product development and client service.

Duane and his team work with pension plan sponsors and intermediaries to develop comprehensive, custom solutions for pension risk management and risk transfer.

Prior to joining MetLife, Duane held various leadership positions with Hewitt Associates, a global Human Resources consulting and outsourcing firm. Duane was the Chief Risk Officer, responsible for creating the Enterprise Risk Management function and managing enterprise risk.

Previous to that role, he was the leader of the New York and Los Angeles offices responsible for consulting and outsourcing services and business development. Duane earned his Masters in Business Administration from the University of California at Los Angeles and his Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Michigan.

David Kingston

David provides best practice research, decision support tools and management guidance to a membership network of CIOs and Heads of Information Risk, Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure. Prior to joining the Corporate Executive Board in 2003, David spent 14 years at The Boston Consulting Group where he provided management consulting services to clients in Chicago, Stockholm, Singapore, Mumbai, Jakarta and Washington, DC. David earned his undergraduate degree at Dartmouth College and his MBA at INSEAD.

Dan Currell

Dan Currell is an Executive Director with the Corporate Integrity practice of the Corporate Executive Board, providing management research and services to legal, compliance, audit and risk executives.  He also leads the Advisory function across all practice areas at CEB.

Working with the Corporate Executive Board since 1999, Dan has presented the Board’s management research to over 700 executive and board audiences in North and South America, Europe, Africa and Australia. His work at CEB has included research and presentations on legal, compliance, internal audit, audit committee, HR, corporate strategy, and corporate real estate issues.

Prior to joining the Corporate Executive Board, Dan practiced commercial litigation. He received his law degree from the University of Chicago and his B.A. from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. He lives in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and has an office at the Corporate Executive Board’s headquarters in Rosslyn, Virginia.

James Fitzmaurice

Jim has more than five years experience helping controller, treasury, and internal audit executives at large organizations build world-class functions. He routinely serves as a facilitator at senior-level executive forums across the globe on topics such as performance management, business partnership, and the agile audit function. Jim has been advising internal audit functions on enterprise risk audit planning, fraud risk assessment, performance management, business partnership, quality assurance, continuous improvement and monitoring, cost-cutting, and audit agility for the past three years. He’s also been a speaker at industry networking events for chief auditors, namely in the oil and gas, pharmaceutical, retail, and energy and utilities industries and is a former sub-prime mortgage preliminary underwriter and retail bank manager.

Dennis Gannon

Dennis Gannon is a Senior Director in the Finance Practice of the Corporate Executive Board. His principal responsibilities include overseeing the execution of research initiatives within the finance practice, delivering in-person and online executive education events for corporate finance professionals, and providing decision support and advice to executives in a one-on-one setting. His expertise and experience ranges across a broad range of corporate finance activities, including capital structure, liquidity, funding, risk management, and finance talent development. He has led more than 75 executive forums for CFOs, treasurers, audit directors and other finance leaders for the Corporate Executive Board, and interacts with senior finance leaders in the CEB membership on a daily basis to keep them current on market and functional trends, and to provide an authoritative perspective on best-practice responses to emerging challenges. Currently, Gannon primarily focuses on issues and research initiatives pertaining to CFOs, corporate treasurers and corporate controllers.

Gannon earned an M.B.A. with honors in Finance and Sports Business from the University of Oregon, and also holds an M.A. in Philosophy of Science and a B.S. in Mathematics from Virginia Tech

Brook Selassie

Brook M. Selassie is a Managing Director of the Corporate Executive Board (NYSE:EXBD), a global management advisory firm headquartered in Arlington, Virginia.  Mr. Selassie advises clients of the Corporate Strategy Board, the strategy research and advisory division of the company.

Brook’s experience includes advising companies on monopoly and competition issues, as well as advisory and consulting work in corporate strategy formulation, planning and execution. Mr. Selassie also has broad experience representing global financial services companies in investment banking transactions, including debt and equity underwriting, mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.

More recently, Mr. Selassie has focused his work on identifying winning corporate growth strategies in Emerging Markets, including capability building, disruptive business models, and creating local value in emerging economies. Mr. Selassie is a frequent speaker in strategy forums on topics ranging from megatrends and scenarios to managing the corporate portfolio and strategy alignment.

Mr. Selassie holds a degree in Economics, Magna Cum Laude from the University of Colorado, and an M.B.A. in Strategy and Finance from the University of Chicago Booth Graduate School of Business. 

Stephanie C. Hill

Stephanie C. Hill is vice president, Corporate Internal Audit for Lockheed Martin Corporation.

Corporate Internal Audit provides independent, objective assurance and consulting activity to improve the Corporation’s operations. Corporate Internal Audit includes Audit Operations and Enterprise Risk Management.  Audit operations fall into four basic areas of finance, environmental safety, information technology and program operations. Enterprise Risk Management ensures the corporation is actively identifying and managing its highest enterprise risks.

Under her leadership, Corporate Internal Audit determines the adequacy and effectiveness of the Corporation’s network of risk management, internal control, and governance processes as designed and represented by management.  Her position reports directly to the Lockheed Martin Audit Committee and Board of Directors, thus maintaining the department’s authority and independence.

Hill joined Lockheed Martin in 1987 as a software engineer and assumed positions of increasing responsibility. She served as Vice President and General Manager of the Electronic Systems-Mission Systems & Sensors (MS2) Baltimore site, where she also was responsible for strategic and execution activities for the Integrated Defense Technologies market segment within the Ship and Aviation Systems line of business; Vice President of Coast Guard and Surveillance Systems, Director of Launching and Ship Systems, Director of Technical Operations , Director of Quality and Mission Success, and, Systems and Software Engineering Manager. She uses her experiences to help expand the business and to foster an environment of innovation and entrepreneurship. 

Hill received a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in computer science and economics from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with high honors. She has participated in numerous leadership development programs, including Lockheed Martin’s Executive Assessment Development and Executive Leadership Programs. Hill was awarded the Women of Color in Technology President’s Award in 2008; named one of the Top 100 Women of Maryland in May 2006; Black Engineer of the Year Award Alumni in 2006; Lockheed Martin’s Engineer of the Year in 1999; and Black Engineer of the Year Most Promising Engineer in 1993.

A strong believer in exposing youth to the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields, Hill is actively involved in local education. She mentors students and employees, serving on Governor O’Malley’s STEM Task Force in 2009. She is also an active member of the Maryland Business Roundtable, and the Greater Baltimore Committee. Active in her church, she sings in the church choir and leads the church’s children’s choir.

 

Steven Loehr

Steve graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1988 with a degree in Industrial Engineering.  He has held technical and management positions throughout IBM’s supply chain, brands, and corporate headquarters, where his focus has been on optimizing and driving operations and processes.  He has global operational experience, having managed operations for IBM in the US, Europe and Asia.

In his current role as Vice President of Operations and Strategy, IBM Value Services, Steve is responsible for defining the location strategy for IBM’s shared services delivery centers, and driving the management system--globally and locally--to deliver efficiency and value across the shared services’ activities.   His projects also include evaluating the future structure of IBM’s cross-enterprise shared services support organization.

Steve is an executive board member for the Grainger Center for Supply Chain Management at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business.   Locally in Dutchess County New York, Steve is a board member and President of the Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum and assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 40.

 

Terry Lillis

Lillis joined The Principal® in 1982 as an actuarial student.  He was promoted to actuarial associate in 1985 and senior actuarial associate in 1986.  He was elected an officer and named assistant actuary in 1988, associate actuary in 1992, actuary in 1995, second vice president-pension actuarial in 1999, and chief financial officer-RIS in 2000.  He was named to his present position in 2008.

An Iowa native, Lillis received his bachelor's degree from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa and his master's degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.  Lillis is a member of the Iowa Actuaries Club, the American Academy of Actuaries, and a member of the Society of Actuaries.  He also serves on the Mercy Medical Center Finance Board Committee, the Simpson College Board of Trustees, the Emmett J. Vaughan Institute of Risk Management and Insurance Advisory Board, and the Diocese of Des Moines and Catholic Charities Finance Council.

 

Allan Minser

Allan Misner is currently the Director of Internal Audit at Murphy Oil Corporation with global responsibilities for financial, operational and IT audits.  He has worked as an auditor (internal and external) for twenty years.

Before joining Murphy Oil in 2007, Mr. Misner held internal audit roles in a diverse range of organizations, including EDS, 3Com and Sunterra.  He started his career at Haddox, Reid, Burkes and Calhoun, a regional CPA firm.

Mr. Misner holds a masters degree in Professional Accountancy from the University of Southern Mississippi.  He is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Internal Auditor, and a Certified Information Systems Auditor.

 

Amol Dhargalkar

Amol Dhargalkar leads Chatham’s corporate advisory team. Before joining the corporate team, Amol led Chatham’s private equity, structured finance and defeasance businesses. While at Chatham, Amol has advised on over $150 billion of interest rate and currency hedging for a variety of firms.  Prior to Chatham, Amol worked within the Global Service Provider business of Lucent Technologies and the consumer products division of Johnson & Johnson. Amol graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a BS in Chemical Engineering and a BS in Economics, and received his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania where he was a Palmer Scholar.

Jose Sabastro

Jose Sabastro is a director in Chatham's Corporate Advisory Services team. Jose has led our Pricing & Analytics team and served multiple clients as they evaluate financial risk management areas.  Prior to Chatham, he worked as a Senior Technology Specialist at Merrill Lynch and as a Technology Associate at Chase Manhattan Bank.  Jose holds an MBA from the Darden School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Polytechnic University.  He also holds the Financial Risk Manager designation awarded by the Global Association of Risk Professionals.  

 

Martin Fleming

In leading the Business Performance Services team, Martin leads an analytics center of competency focused on improving IBM’s business performance and achieving IBM’s 2015 financial goals. The Business Performance Services team creates new data sources, applies advanced analytic techniques, deploys new business processes, and drives resource reallocation to achieve increased revenue growth and improved organizational leverage. As IBM’s Chief Economist, Martin provides regular insight and analysis on relevant economic issues to IBM’s senior leadership team.

Previously, within IBM Corporate Strategy, Martin led IBM’s Smarter Planet strategy development and execution with a focus on energy, climate change, transportation, water and Smarter Cities.

Prior to joining IBM, Martin was a Principal Consultant and the technology practice leader at Abt Associates, Cambridge Massachusetts. He was also Vice President, Strategy for Reed-Elsevier, Inc., the Anglo-Dutch information company. Martin began his professional career at the System Dynamics Group, Alfred P. Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Martin is a member of the New York Association of Business Economists, the National Economists Club and the American Economics Association. Martin has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Business Economists (NABE), chaired the NABE Statistics Committee and the Julius Shiskin Awards Committee.

Martin holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in Economics from Tufts University and a B.S. cum laude in Mathematics from Lowell Technological Institute.

 

Tamara Shipley

Tamara is an executive advisor in the Corporate Executive Board’s Shared Services Roundtable program, providing advice on topics which include global shared services organizational strategy and service delivery, process ownership, outsourcing and multifunctional shared services. With 17 years of finance shared services consulting and public accounting audit experience she also advises on finance transaction processing best practices. Tamara speaks regularly with shared services organizations with different maturities, functional/process and geographic scope, and service delivery execution. She received her BA from The Pennsylvania State University and Masters of International Business from the University of South Carolina. Tamara resides in Atlanta, GA and is a certified public accountant.

Maarten Westermann

Maarten is the Legal & Compliance Practice Lead for the Corporate Executive Board in Europe, a best practices and management research US listed company serving over 3,000 companies worldwide.  He gives presentations and workshops to general counsel, compliance & ethics officers and their teams, small or large, of Fortune 500 companies in Europe, South Africa and North America on subjects like legal risk management & compliance, legal department productivity, knowledge management, intellectual property, records management, corporate governance, ethics & integrity, training and communication. A Dutch lawyer from The Netherlands, Maarten’s work experience includes over seven years of corporate and international tax and finance transactions.  He worked for law firms Perkins Coie in Washington, DC, and Gardner, Carton & Douglas in Chicago, as well as for the trust and fiduciary services group Equity Trust in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. In addition to his law degree, Maarten holds an MBA from the University of Michigan Business School, where he specialized in Corporate Strategy and International Business.  He speaks Dutch, English, French and German.

 

Scott Engler

Bennett Stewart

Bennett Stewart is the chairman and chief executive of EVA Dimensions LLC, a company he formed in 2006.  Prior to that he was a co-founder of Stern Stewart & Co., the global consulting firm that pioneered the development and corporate applications of EVA.  Mr. Stewart was the principal creator of the EVA framework.  He formed EVA Dimensions to acquire the EVA brand and related technologies from Stern Stewart to provide services in the fields of financial benchmark data, performance management and valuation software, and investment research.

Mr. Stewart is the author of The Quest for Value, which is regarded as the definitive guide to EVA. He has also written numerous articles on corporate financial management and valuation.  His most recent article is “EVA Momentum: The One Ratio that Tells the Whole Story,” in the Summer 2009 issue of the Morgan Stanley Journal of Applied Corporate Finance.   Mr. Stewart has lectured widely and frequently garners the top rating among conference speakers.

Mr. Stewart is a cum laude graduate of Princeton University with a degree in electrical engineering (1974) and holds an MBA degree (1976) from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.  He serves as a member (and former chairman) of the Alumni Advisory Council for Princeton’s Department of Operations Research and Financial Engineering, is a member of the Advisory Board for the Morgan Stanley Journal of Applied Corporate Finance, and is a director and member of the audit and compensation committees of ITC Holdings (NYSE:ITC), the nation’s largest independent electric distribution company.

 

Kelly Bodnar Battles

Kelly Bodnar Battles is the CFO of Host Analytics, Inc. the leading provider of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) based Corporate Performance Management (CPM) solutions. Prior to Host Analytics,  Kelly was VP, Finance at IronPort Systems where she was the first finance hire and was responsible for building and leading the finance, accounting, administrative and various operational functions during her six years there. During her tenure at IronPort, the company grew from $2M to $250M in annual bookings and was sold to Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO).  Before IronPort, Kelly was a Director in HP's Strategy and Corporate Development group, a Strategy Consultant with McKinsey and Company, and a Corporate Finance Associate at J.P. Morgan.   Kelly graduated with a B.S.E. from Princeton and an M.B.A. from Harvard, both with honors.   Kelly lives in the Bay Area with her husband, and their 2 children, labrador retriever and rescued cat.

Jim is responsible for Cummins' shared services organization that provides Accounting, Customer Care, HR, and IT services to Cummins business units around the world.  Prior to Cummins, Jim served as Chief Operating Officer of Touchbase Group Ltd., a UK-based, global technology services company.  In this capacity, Jim was responsible for delivery of Finance, HR, IT, and Legal services worldwide.  Jim also held senior HR and Customer Care leadership roles at Cendant Corporation ($19B Revenue) and at AT&T, and worked previously in Investment Banking at Salomon Brothers Inc. in New York City.  Jim earned his undergraduate degree in Philosophy from Trinity College (Hartford, CT) and his MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Michael Uth manages the Compliance and Ethics Group of Progressive’s Corporate Law Department.  Mr. Uth has held various other positions in Progressive’s Corporate Law Department since 1991.  Prior to joining Progressive, Mr. Uth worked in the Law Department of Leaseway Transportation Corp., Cleveland, Ohio, and the law firm of Jones, Ludwick & Malone, Atlanta, Georgia.  Mr. Uth is a graduate of Miami University and Emory University School of Law.

Forbes I. J. Alexander was named Chief Financial Officer in September 2004. Most recently he served as Treasurer since November 1996.

Forbes joined Jabil in 1993 as Controller of our Scottish operation and was promoted to Assistant Treasurer in April 1996. Prior to joining Jabil, Forbes was Financial Controller of Tandy Electronics European Manufacturing Operations in Scotland and has held various financial positions with Hewlett Packard and Apollo Computer.

Forbes is a Chartered Management Accountant. He holds a B.A. in Accounting from the University of Abertay, Dundee, Scotland.

David is one of the world’s leading advisors on joint ventures, consortia, and complex partnerships. David is a co-founder of Water Street Partners and works with clients across the globe, in all phases of the joint venture lifecycle from deal making to restructuring and exit.  

Prior to founding Water Street Partners, David spent 22 years at McKinsey & Company. David founded and led the JV and Alliance Practice at McKinsey, where he also was a leader of the firm’s Corporate Finance and Strategy practices. As a longstanding partner at McKinsey, David advised on more than 300 transactions, including many of the largest energy and technology JVs in the world. He has served companies across the deal lifecycle, including deal strategy, structuring, valuation, negotiation, governance, restructuring and exit.

Author of the book “Collaborating to Compete,” David has also written articles in Harvard Business Review, The Financial Times, CFO Magazine, and many other business publications.

Prior to McKinsey, David was an economist with Chase Econometrics and Evans Economics.  He holds graduate and undergraduate degrees in economics from Tufts University.  David grew up in Ethiopia and Korea.

Aaron Kotok

Aaron Kotok is a Director of Research and Executive Education with the Corporate Executive Board’s Corporate Integrity Practice, where he focuses on executive education, advisory services, and best practices research for legal, compliance, and ethics departments.  His role is to bring research from the General Counsel Roundtable and the Compliance and Ethics Leadership Council to their respective memberships through meetings, presentations, and working sessions, and to work with the Corporate Integrity Practice’s research teams to ensure that their work is responsive to member needs.

Prior to joining the Corporate Integrity Practice, Mr. Kotok helped to build the law firms business of the world’s leading expert network company.  During that time he worked closely with managing partners, attorneys, and chief marketing officers at many of North America’s largest law firms to connect them with leading-edge subject-matter expertise.  Mr. Kotok began his legal practice at Venable LLP in Washington, DC as a transactional attorney primarily handling commercial real estate transactions.  Mr. Kotok also has prior experience in the Corporate Executive Board’s practice for chief strategy officers, the Corporate Strategy Board.  Mr. Kotok received his Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania.  Mr. Kotok resides with his wife and four children in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Jennifer Childs Kugler — Senior Director,

Jennifer Childs Kugler is Senior Director of Research and Executive Education with the Corporate Integrity Practice of the Corporate Executive Board.  Her role is to bring the research to its membership through meetings, presentations, teleconferences and working sessions, and to work with researchers to ensure that their work is responsive to member needs.

Prior to joining the Corporate Executive Board, Jennifer worked in Los Angeles on corporate transactions for a large law firm and on film production and development transactions for a major motion picture studio’s in-house legal team. 

Jennifer received her J.D. from University of Texas School of Law and her B.A. in Political Science from Stanford University. She is admitted to the bar in California.  Jennifer was born in Dallas, Texas, and lives in Los Angeles, California with her husband Andrew and three children.

 

Nancy Snowden

Nancy Snowden — Director, Office of Business Resources, Caterpillar Inc,

Ms. Snowden received her Bachelor of Sciences degree and Juris Doctorate from the University of Illinois. Ms. Snowden began her career with Caterpillar Inc. in the Legal Department in 1978.  She received broad based experience in many areas of the company’s legal matters including securities and corporate law, commercial contracts, mergers and acquisitions and general litigation.

In 1987, Ms. Snowden was transferred to San Diego, California to the Legal Department of Solar Turbines Incorporated, a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc. where she became a supervising attorney.

In 1991, Ms. Snowden moved to Nashville, Tennessee to become the General Counsel for the Financial Products Division of Caterpillar Inc.  She had responsibility for all legal matters relating to Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation (Caterpillar’s multi- billion captive finance company) and Caterpillar Insurance Corporation.

In 1997, Ms. Snowden started up Caterpillar Power Ventures and served as its President and Managing Director. The mission of Caterpillar Power Ventures Corporation was to structure, develop, construct and provide equity to electrical power projects, which use Caterpillar equipment.  During her tenure, Caterpillar Power Ventures developed power projects in India, Cambodia, Dominican Republic, Tunisia, Poland and Sri Lanka.

From 2003 to mid 2005, Ms. Snowden was the Director of Investor Relations of Caterpillar Inc.   Nancy became the Director of the Business Practices with day-to-day responsibility for the Ethics and Compliance Program for the Company, a position, which she currently holds.

 

John Stott

John Stott — Vice President and Controller,

John P. Stott has served as Vice President and Controller since December 2006 of Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM). Mr. Stott is responsible for all accounting functions at ADM. Mr. Stott joined ADM in 1992 and has had a variety of financial and treasury responsibilities both domestically and internationally. He most recently served as Operations Controller and, prior to relocating to the US, as European Finance Director based in Hamburg, Germany.

Mr. Stott, started his career as a trainee in the bookkeeping department of a national real estate firm in England. Prior to joining ADM, he spent several years with Continental Grain in London, England,  first as a Financial Analyst and then as a Treasury Assistant. After completing his English grammar school education, he completed his accounting studies with the (UK) Association of Accounting Technicians and also the (UK) Association of Chartered Certified Accountants where he is today a Fellow member. He is also an Associate member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers. 

Married with 3 young children, he enjoys listening to music, social golf, reading, skiing, and travelling and spending time with his family.

 

Rick Zuza

Rick joined Kiewit in November of 2008 as the Vice President of Supply Chain. Rick is responsible for both the Procurement and Equipment groups in the Home Office. Prior to joining Kiewit, Rick was the Senior Vice President of International Purchasing and Materials for the Kansas City Southern Railroad. Rick also had significant procurement responsibilities with Allstate and Gibson. After completing the management training program at General Electric, Rick began his career in the EPC business with GE, designing and building power plants and other industrial projects.

Rick holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from West Virginia University.
